The Infinity Ward (and Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software) developed Modern Warfare 3 has already experienced a substantial leak of information regarding its campaign and story (spoilers abound), weapons list and artwork, and even the multiplayer and Spec Ops maps. With a confirmed release date to go along with all of that, it’s hard to wonder what kind of announcement can be made.

With so much leaked information already available, what we’re hoping for is something in the form of actual gameplay footage. However, with E3 on the horizon, sharing something like that could be viewed in two ways: Premature or very well calculated. Modern Warfare 3 will also be contending against Battlefield 3 this year for first person shooter superiority so Activision may be vying for a more direct approach by showing their hand early and dazzling everyone.

Modern Warfare 2 Community Manager, Robert Bowling, admitted through Twitter that while some of the information leaked has retained accuracy, waiting for the official reveal will be worth it.

Gameplay footage of Modern Warfare 3 would be something to really behold, whether it be a walkthrough of a campaign level or even seeing new Spec Ops missions in action. The only thing anyone can really do is wait for the reveal on May 24, which already feels way too far away.

Modern Warfare 3 will be releasing November 8, 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
