According to the UK’s ratings board, the BBFC, a title called Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition has been given an 18-rating, as well as a release date of February 17th. Beyond that, no information has been given, so we can assume that this wasn’t meant to appear on the site. This also leaves a lot of speculation as to just what the game will be.
The ideal plan would be to have this year’s Mortal Kombat game - the 9th in the series - release with all of the DLC included, namely the four new characters and the extra costumes and Fatalities. Ed Boon did hint at there being more DLC for Mortal Kombat, though, so it’s possible that this was what he meant. It’s also possible that there will be something entirely exclusive to the new edition, such as a new character or two. Will those rumors about Marcus Fenix making an appearance be confirmed?
Last month, Ed Boon did say that there was a Mortal Kombat-related surprise coming up soon. Some rumors had spread that it had to do with the new Mortal Kombat movie, but it seems more likely that he was referring to this. But what exactly is Ed Boon planning? While the plan to include all of the already-released DLC is nice, it doesn’t seem likely that that alone would sell very well. Plus, Mortal Kombat is famous for including secrets and extra goodies, so this will most likely have something entirely new added in.
What do you think will be added to the new edition? Will we be seeing any new characters? Will the DLC content be included?
Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition will arrive February 17th for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
