The title is back in the spotlight today with some not so great news for fans waiting to pick up a copy of the game on last generation consoles.
In response to these rumors, Mortal Kombat X publisher, Warner Bros Interactive did confirm that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game would miss the April 14 release date and instead be arriving sometime in the summer. No specific reasons were given for the delay.
The publisher did go on to confirm that the current generation versions of Mortal Kombat X are still on track for the April 14 release date.
It’s unfortunate, but Warner Bros. is no stranger to delaying its games on last generation platforms. The most recent example came last year with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor which saw the last generation versions of the game receive a delay and was eventually released two months later. The current generation and PC versions instead were moved up by a week.
With the player base still so high on last generation consoles, there’s little wonder to why publishers want to continue to serve those players as well as the ones on the newer consoles. In certain cases though, the transition to older hardware looks to be tougher than expected.
