Prior to E3 2014, NetherRealm founder Ed Boon began teasing the studio’s next project in a mysterious countdown - which ultimately coincided with the reveal of Mortal Kombat X. Arriving on next-gen (and possibly current-gen) consoles, Mortal Kombat X serves as a further evolution of the mega-successful 2011 quasi-series reboot Mortal Kombat (aka Mortal Kombat 9)....

Now, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Mortal Kombat X developer NetherRealm Studios are the latest to jump on the eSports hype train. The duo announced a partnership this morning with The Electronic Sports League that will see the creation of at least two major tournaments featuring Mortal Kombat X, which releases April 14. The one most will be interested in is the Mortal Kombat X ESL Pro League Tournament for Xbox One players, as it is open to the public and features a prize pool of $100,000....

We won’t go into too much detail as to what we saw—just know that we get a glimpse at the family life of Hanzo Hasashi (Hiroyuki Sanda), who becomes Scorpion. Still, despite the mixed reviews for Mortal Kombat, the film is putting up a solid box office opening and seems to be on track for a successful premiere, which makes sequels a very real possibility. In fact, recent news seems to indicate that more films in the franchise are definitely in the cards, with one actor revealing that his contract has him committed to 4 more entries in the franchise, should the studio decide to make those sequels....

Fortunately, it looks like those issues should be gone tomorrow, at least according to NetherRealm’s head honcho, Ed Boon. In a Twitch stream today, Boon promised PC gamers an update on May 5th that should fix all the various issues and problems the players are experiencing in Mortal Kombat X. One of the biggest complaints about Mortal Kombat X on PC has been its poor performance online. Players have voiced their concerns about most aggressively about consistent connection problems when trying to play against other fighters....

Mortal Kombat X is hoping to combat online inactivity with a new finishing move they’re calling the Quitality. Essentially, the inactive player will spontaneously combust and their head will pop off its body. News of the Quitality comes courtesy of today’s Kombat Kast, in which NetherRealm devs showed off new fighting variations for Mileena, Takeda, and Kung Jim. They also confirmed that PS3-compatible fight sticks, like those released with Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice, will work with the PS4 version of Mortal Kombat X....
